A pair of larger, older trolleys from the M&S food hall, returned and scored as one. Oddly easy to wheel: wheeling two or more trolleys is often a bit of a pain.
Out to inspect the market, dominated by east Asian street food, but still including a well stocked fruit & veg operation. Tempted by some grapes, but decided, it only being the day after BH's weekly shop at Sainsbury's, that this would be superfluous. And so once more around the Screwfix tunnel circuit.
Home to lunch which took the form, for the second week running, of lasagne made with vegetarian mince left over from the day before. At least that is what I first thought, but actually the previous occasion was three weeks ago, before the recent visit to Epsom and St. Helier General Hospitals (Epsom campus) or possibly it was to Epsom and St Helier and St George’s hospitals Group (GESH) (Epsom campus). Aside, I might say that while I was impressed with the service, I was not so very impressed with the new acronym. Perhaps they will come up with something better. But for the previous lasagne see reference 2.
On that last occasion, the mince was fine, but soya based. This time BH went for a different brand, snapped above, pea followed by soya, which was pallid in appearance, but I thought with a better flavour. Cheap and very palatable, if a little more work than using meat.
With the only problem being that the picture provided by the manufacturer at reference 3 does not quite tally with the text. No talk of pea there, while elsewhere we have the words: 'Now with an improved recipe using our signature mix of pea, rice and soya protein, our vegan mince is packed full of taste and texture. We’ve also reduced the saturated fat and increased the protein to 22.5g. Mooovellous'.
But still, the product was pretty good, even if the copywriters were a bit careless. A far cry from the beans of the Cranks of old, which had a very beanie reputation. Not sure now whether we ever actually used them. See reference 4.
PS: later: I have now reviewed the matter of Cranks with BH. The story seems to be that I once bought her a Cranks recipe book, from which she tried a few things. Lots of beans and wholemeal pasta, which last we dislike to this day. Wholemeal quiche which we are not very keen on either. But by the time we cranked ourselves up to try one of the restaurants, it had shut. So we never did. But we did try the rather different Green Door in Ottawa, as noticed at reference 5. I also notice that the pointer to the place included there still works, so it is still up and running. Snapped above.
