This large and dozy butterfly parked up on the water butt outside our back door earlier this afternoon, Dozy enough to sit there, not moving far, while I fetched my telephone down from upstairs.
Orange markings here, but very red in real life and fairly red on the telephone - but orange by the time they had passed through gdrive and into this post.
Whereas this shot started out fairly orange on the telephone. So focus quite good, but colour rendering not so good. Oddly, Google Image was quite clear that this was a red admiral, despite most of the images offered for comparison being orange rather than red.
While the water butt the butterfly is sitting on is a deep green. No doubt an image processing expert could explain exactly what is going on here.
PS 1: the colours on this post on the telephone are quite close to those on the original snaps and there is a good deal more green in the plastic. Which suggests that the problem lies with the recently reactivated Pavilion laptop. For which see the two postscripts to reference 1.
PS 2: on the large but elderly HP screen downstairs, the reds of the two snaps are much the same orange and yellow as I get on this laptop. Which suggests a problem with HP screens more generally - although I dare say that there are colour rendering settings somewhere which could be tweaked a bit.
