Collecting

Picked up a little way past the new Lidl UK HQ, on the Tolworth end of Jubilee Way. First, one sheet of foam packaging, perhaps three feet by five feet, nearly new. Blown into the hedge. Presently airing on the washing line. Bound to come in useful for something, someday. Second, some kind of specialised bolt, about five inches long and added to the snap using the remove background feature in Microsoft's Powerpoint.

A useful feature, but one which is a bit idiosyncratic in application, with the 'mark areas to remove' and 'mark areas to keep' functions sometimes seeming very dim. I had to resort to shaving off excess very gradually, seemingly the only way to avoid flip-flopping between far too much off and not nearly enough off. And even then, the carefully machined conical point at the bottom is still missing. Presently in my box full of miscellaneous nuts, bolts and other bits and pieces of that sort. Might come in useful one day. Alternatively, in a spring cleaning mood, it might find its way into the scrap metal bucket for transfer to the appropriate skip at the tip.

At some point, I was passed by a car with a registration plate starting with 'P34', the closest I have come to No.36 since spotting No.35 on the Isle of Wight in July, as noticed at reference 1.

Wound up the proceedings by stocking up with Bells at Costcutter (alibi'd by a print Guardian and some of the white rolls they are rather good at) and organising the festive pork at the butcher. That is to say a piece of rolled shoulder, some dry cured, smoked streaky and a white pudding. A bit of tutting about the lateness of my order.

PS: having, as always, to check whether it was Lidl or Aldi at Jubilee Way, the brain having got the two names thoroughly confused, I turned up reference 2, which suggests that we have a whole complex, not just a building. Maybe the entrance I pass is destined to be the service entrance, the back door, rather than the triumphal entrance somewhere on the other side. Must explore next time I am there.
