Spring is here

The water hawthorn is coming on well, now getting on for a year after immersion. See reference 1. And this afternoon I read that it counts as an invasive species in Ireland, discouraged although not forbidden. Perhaps it is apt to escape and invade natural ponds and lakes.

The celandines at the top, that is to say the back, of the back garden looked well in yesterday morning's bright sun. Glossy yellow petals, a much brighter yellow than dandelions, more like buttercups. But a yellow which is a bit lost after treatment by my telephone and I had to resort to zoom in the snap above.

But, contrariwise, it manages the pretty but soft yellow of the archangels.

Mysteriously, the woodland people of reference 4 seem to think that the archangels come after the bluebells, whereas, in our garden at least, they mostly come after. Maybe reference 4 doesn't understand about the foreign bluebells which have invaded suburban gardens in our part of southern England.

PS 1: Google sent me an email yesterday explaining quite clearly that they don't read one's email when personalising the serving of advertisements. But I think they must read one's blogs, or this advertisement is too much of a coincidence, having noticed this very book just about a month ago at reference 5. Not that I mind, the blogs are public domain and if their computer can be bothered to read them, fair enough. But I am prompted to remind readers of the dreadful tripe put out by the online version of the 'Daily Express', visible right. The owner ought to be ashamed of himself.

PS 2: later: maybe a more likely story would be that, in the course of posting about Visser, I did the odd search, for some reason using my desktop which is equipped with Chrome and Google, rather than my laptop which is equipped with Edge and Bing. And Google very probably uses my either or both of my search history and my viewing history when serving advertisements. A bit like on crime dramas on television, in which the police can find out all about your call history on your mobile, even if they can't hear what you have been saying.
