Wellingtonia 87

The last Wellingtonia of this year's visit to Osborne, captured by nipping out of the shade offered by a heritage sun shelter a little way outside of the walled garden. Rather healthier than No.86 at reference 1.

Planted by Prince Albert himself, just about 167 years ago. So still a mere child compared with some of those in California, the ones spared by the current round of wildfires that is. Some of which may have been around when our Lord first saw the light of day, presumably a few hours after he actually emerged in his stable, with my understanding being that that was at night.

My understanding also is that her Royal Highness herself planted one, maybe her children too. So a job for our next visit. A place we visit perhaps every other year, alternating with Carisbrooke Castle, plague years aside. But, as will be explained in its proper place, a short visit this year, so maybe next year.
