Wellingtonia 59

Another fine specimen was captured yesterday in Old Parvis Road, West Byfleet. A little to the east of Woking, immediately to the west of the M25 and surrounded by various branches of the River Wey drainage complex. Perhaps they like being so close to water.

We went on to skirt the north of Woking, but we did not think to call at the Shah Jahan Mosque, built in 1889, the first purpose built mosque in this country. This despite having often seen its green dome from the train down to Eastleigh (for onward transit to what was then called OPCS, at Titchfield). As it happens on an Oriental Road and said to have a large car park.

I failed to find a very convincing image on Street View, the best I could do being that above. At least there is a green dome and the alley is off Oriental Road. But see reference 2.

Maybe next time.
