A view of the iconic power station, that is to say Battersea Power Station, taken from the London Eye in the early evening.
And to be fair to the developers, you can see it from some angles and it is not completely obscured by surrounding towers and blocks. Even if completely rebuilding the four chimneys does seem a bit extravagant.
That said, a lot of important buildings in central and eastern Europe were more or less completely rebuilt after being smashed or bombed down in the second world war.

I came across this chap in the margins of the snap above - with reading about a fighter ace from the other side giving me an odd feeling. It was also a reminder that some pilots went right through the war, not needing to be stood down from operations with battle stress after 50 sorties or whatever. I seem to remember from Catch 22 that it was 30 sorties for USAF bomber crews.
