Following the mention of blackberries at reference 1, just about a month later I have got going, and picked the first batch, that is to say something more than a middle sized plastic tub full, maybe four trays worth in BH fast freeze speak.
Started at the industrial side of the bottom of Longmead Road, that is to say Brook Close, close to where Longmead Road meets Chessington Road. The bushes were a bit ragged, perhaps the result of grass cutting contractor action, perhaps people climbing into the bushes to get at the blackberries. But there were still quite a lot of ripe blackberries.
Second stop was the southern arm of Gibraltar Crescent, at about the middle of Longmead Road, as snapped from gmaps above.
Third stop was the tunnel under the railway near the top end of Longmead Road, the one that leads to Stones Road. Head east through the tunnel and the blackberries are on the chain link fence on one's left. Beyond the range of the prying camera from StreetView.
On the way back onto Blenheim Road, I passed a child's scooter, chucked in a hedge, which I gathered up. We how have two such things, one large and one small (the new one, snapped above). Rather awkward thing to carry on a bicycle, not having thought to tie it onto the rack at the back, but we got home in one piece. The first scooter has not been used in the two or three years we have had it, but maybe things will get better now that we have two of them.
Blackberries passed onto BH for processing.
