A dud kilo?

This being £10 worth of cherries from Epsom Market, bought late yesterday afternoon when they were closing down. Something more than a kilo for a tenner. Blue plastic bag thrown in without extra charge. The stall being a place where, over the years, I have made a number of what seemed like good value purchases at the time, only to be disappointed when I got them home. The fruit & veg stall in the middle of the market, rather than the one at the eastern end of the market which I have found more reliable, not present on this occasion.

But I had forgotten about all that in my eagerness to buy some cherries, which looked clean and shiny, albeit very dark. Get them home to find that, while in perfectly good condition, they just didn't taste very good. A bit thin and watery.

Something that has happened before, when I tried stewing them, but not getting the stewing quite right. Edible, but not great. So on this occasion, the cherries have been turned over to BH. We will see what she does with them.

PS: on the way back, up Hook Road, noticed a Chinook which appeared to be flying south over Court Recreation Ground. A bit early for serious substance action, but who knows?
