Atlas cedar

There has been a 'For Sale' sign in the house attached to the weeping Atlas cedar in Hook Road, and I was concerned that a new owner might not be a tree hugger and do away with it.

So I pleased to see that it was still there yesterday, hanging down attractively over the driveway. Clearly more important that getting the white lorry out for outings.

PS 1: no idea whether I could ask the council to list the tree and convert it into a protected tree. Plus there used to be a trunk diameter rule for listing which I doubt whether this tree would comply with - there even used to be stories about the council pushing back against wanton tree fellers by hiring helicopters to photograph and measure new stumps, very visible from above. And even if I could ask, I don't think that I would care to intervene in that way.

PS 2: just clicked on an odd looking email message in my gmail inbox, thinking that perhaps it was one of the odd blog comments I get from time to time. But it vanished when I touched it - so I hope that it is not doing anything untoward.

PS 3: Google search suggests that this is a reasonably common problem. Much obscure talk of filter and forward options. Some talk of malware, but not much. So unless it happens again, I shall do nothing more.
