Piano 82

Piano 82 was captured in a restaurant in Dean Street, quite near one of the big new entrances to Tottenham Court Road tube station.

A Schimmel Braunschweig which the waiter was very keen that I should have a go on, offering to turn off the musak - light classical I think - for the purpose. He seemed quite disappointed when I explained that I only collected pianos and could not play one. I didn't even touch a few keys to see if it was indeed in tune and playable.

A respectable brand, false-positive'd rather than noticed at reference 2. No other notice to date. A brand which still exists and which still appears to have a factory in Braunschweig, which turns out to be a place rather than just a name. One of their current offerings is snapped above from reference 3, so perhaps they are into rather flashy packaging, in keeping with the rather flashy veneer of yesterday's model.

A bonus was the radio sat on top, snapped in zoom above, very like the radio my parents bought in the early 1960's to replace their 1940's (or possibly earlier) model, possibly the one they acquired when they married. A Phillips radio, presumably still involving valves and glowing red in the dark.

In the margins, a large mobile crane at Stoneleigh Station, sent in by a correspondent, following the more modest one at reference 4. Quite possibly something to do with why we had no northbound trains from Epsom yesterday, at least not in the first part of the morning.

For the serious punter they can do up to 800 tons, presumably not what we have above. For more of the same see reference 5.

While for serious, downloadable pictures, one needs to go to Germany at reference 6.
