Miniature restaurant

A couple of weeks ago back to the Persian/Iranian restaurant in Upper High Street, last visited about five years ago, as noticed at reference 2. Not counting the occasion last year when we popped in for a drink after going to the cinema more or less opposite, as noticed at reference 3.

The place was empty this lunchtime, apart from us and a steady trickle of food delivery riders. However, we were sitting in the window and plenty of entertainment was provided by the passers-by. For example, a pretty young lady who appeared to be dressed mainly in a brown body stocking. BH had worried about noise from the builders next door, but that turned out to be a non-issue.

Flat bread rather flat and rather dry, as last time, but perhaps that is the way Persians do it. The bread we got from the Arena was rather flat too - for which see reference 4. And the coating on the falafel was quite thick and spiced up. All very satisfactory all the same.

For main course, I took the thin lamb again, liking it much better on this occasion than the last. I would have it again. While BH took a bream version of the same, which was well enough, but BH found the fish a bit more highly flavoured than she really liked.

Winding up with a modest amount of baklava for dessert. Plus a spot of Johnny Walker which the cheerful waitress, probably the wife of the proprietor, managed to add ice to, instructions notwithstanding. Mint tea for her.

The wine, a two year old Italian, had served well enough. On this occasion though, I failed on the search key 'altemura àpulo fiano salento' to track it down to its origins. Well enough known to the trade though.

A pleasant meal. We shall, no doubt, be back.

Not to Wetherspoon's on this occasion, rather to a bench in the market square. From where BH made a quick foray into M&S while I captured the M&S trolley noticed at reference 5. I am happy to say, no-one saw fit to take the notice on the bench as an invitation to chat. Notices which I think appeared during the plague.
