A correspondent has reported the demise of Aquavit, a Scandinavian themed restaurant just south of Piccadilly Circus. A place I had visited at intervals since my first visit, when masks and lockdowns were still very much the thing, getting on for three years ago. One result of which was chairs, tables and umbrellas being installed out front. Missing from the snap above, dated June 2022. Perhaps they all got put out each day, on opening, and this snap was from the silent hours.
A pity, as the place made a change from my usual outdoor diet of Italian themed food. A handsome interior, interesting cutlery and good food. That said, it had never been busy when I visited, so hard to see how they could keep going. OK, so you do most of your business in the evening, but you need to be doing something Thursday and Friday lunchtimes.
PS: the menu included a small selection of fancy cigars, but I never got around to trying one. Or even to finding out whether they really still existed.
