Not so almighty

It is quite reassuring that Google have thought it worthwhile to send me several advertising emails over the past few days suggesting that I might be interested in doing an internship, or something of the sort, with one of our secret services. Good evidence that Google does not know as much about one as one is apt to think in moment of paranoia, perhaps late at night or when the temperature has climbed a bit too high for brain comfort.

That said, I also find it hard to get excited about the amount of information about me circulating on various computers scattered about the globe. So what if Chairman Mao can find out what I had for breakfast yesterday? Here in the UK, I like to think that we are a long way off having the sort of government who might abuse possession of such stuff.

PS: and what about all those who believe in all-knowing deities, like the god of the Christians, perhaps also that of Muslims and Jews. Do many Christians spend quality time worrying whether the doings of the deity should be supervised by the Information Commissioner?
