Piano 63

A piano captured in the church at Ringwood, a rather grand church, but rather squashed in by the busy A31 next door. A Hofmann Mignon. A very respectable name, with real Hofmanns being made in the Czech Republic, once proud to be independent, but now a member of the Bechstein family. Bing gives me the impression that these are mid-range pianos, better than a mass-produced piano for use in home and school, but not the sort of thing you would expect to see in a Premier League concert hall. And many pianos sporting this name in England may actually have been made in England, presumably under license from the then owner of the name. In any event, not grand enough to be visible to search at reference 4.

In any event, a first, as the archive contains no record of any other Hofmann piano.

One can only suppose that the town grew up to the southeast of the bend in the River Avon, but leaving some water meadows which were subsequently gobbled up by the A31 and its junction with the Salisbury road, top right in the snap above.

The church website at reference 3 does not tell us the name of the officer-in-charge, but they do seem to be mixed up with the people at reference 2 - BCM being the acronym for Bible Centred Ministry, headquartered in this country in Gloucester - and they do seem to be very keen on protecting children - which makes me wonder whether there been some scandal in the vicinity.

PS 1: BSM is also the acronym for various other outfits. Not completely sure that I have picked on the right one.

PS 2: at reference 5, I commented on a bit of German foolishness. To be fair to them, we have do our own foolishness up north where the lady named for a Russian fish seems to think that now is a good time to burn up energy worrying about the possible secession from the union of a large local authority. Just like the Brexit people thought that all the energy burned up on that quest was time and money well spent. When will these people learn that we have serious problems to worry about? I note that the lady in question is relatively short - think of all the short leaders who turned out badly - and perhaps a little shorter than a prize fish of her name.
