Trolley 805 was captured yesterday, Tuesday morning, in the Kokoro Passage. A nearly new trolley. from B&M, to where it was returned.
This was followed by a spot of shopping, an important feature of which was three packs of economy tomatoes from M&S.
This having decided that round, orange tomatoes do better than fancy red tomatoes on the vine, for grilling and cooking, both presently important to us. The website admits to price variation, and I think I paid a pound a pack for the three packs, subsequently taking one pack grilled for lunch. Very good they were too.
This was followed by an important registration plate on a BMW parked near Ben the Butcher in Upper High Street. A car which looked very new to me, but which carcheck tells me is actually four years old. An M4 competition auto - which is confirmed by zooming in to the bit of trim to the right of the round BMW plaque. A sort of car for which Bing tells me I might pay more than £50,000. There is something of the sort to be seen at reference 2. I think I would settle for 250 reasonably fancy meals out for two.
Later on, after lunch, another pack of tomatoes went into a lentil stew, aka soup
On this occasion, the 8oz of lentils were cooked largely by themselves, with their washing taking place 75 minutes before the off. With the butter, garlic, onion, celery, tomato and saucisson (200g) component being added 15 minutes before the off. For some reason, this particular stew had a tendency to stick and needed frequent stirring.
Taken with rice and not quite enough leeks - I had forgotten how much these go down in the cooking. We did a bit more than half on this first sitting, leaving enough for a second today. This second half will be microwaved back to warmth, hopefully avoiding the sticking problem.
PS: Wednesday evening: just taken the second half with boiled potatoes and greens, with stewed plums to follow. In the event, the stew reheated vey well - about half an hour on medium with one stir and no added water.
