The last pair of trolleys from the expedition on Monday, successfully returned to the stacks at the back of the store, that is to say by the Ashley Centre entrance. Two trolleys which looked very new to me, which reminded me that even with bulk purchase, these trolleys must cost a bit.
A few clicks later and Bing has taken me to the people at reference 2 who supply lots of stuff for shops. A quick look suggests that trolleys such as those shown above might be £50 secondhand or something more than £100 new. With the more sturdy trolleys used, for example, by builders' merchants costing a lot more. So does loss of, say, a trolley a day make a visible impact on the annual profit and loss account? Would the people who sell profit leakage services in the FT be able to help?
Trolley business completed, back down Hook Road, not fancying a fuller circuit for some reason I no longer remember. To come across a row in the making where a builder's van and a carelessly parked car had more or less blocked Manor Green Road. At least for those of us who have a regard for our wing mirrors. More builder's vans backing up on both sides. Honks and shouts getting underway. I carried on on my way, not choosing to get involved. Cleared today, so something must have happened in the interval.
