Wellingtonia 122

Wellingtonia 122 was really one and a half Wellingtonia, one left and half right, with the half being a once large tree which had lost a large chunk from its crown, perhaps the result of wind damage.

Captured just beyond the end of the magnificent avenue connecting Denham old village with 'The Buckinghamshire, West London’s finest Golf Estate & Country House, a contemporary members’ club for discerning golfers and their families just 15 miles from Notting Hill'. To be found at reference 2. Not to be confused with lesser Buckinghamshire golf clubs.

An aerial shot, lifted from reference 2. The top of the half clearly visible centre left. And part of the avenue top left.

What is now the club house was once Denham Court, with some of the present buildings dating back to the end of the 17th century. It remained a family home until the second world war when it went through a number of public lives and is now in the care of the golf club. On which there will be further report in due course. In the meantime reference 2 is supplemented by reference 3.

PS: a blood pressure aide-memoire, a bit clearer than the one at reference 4. The charts, chosen more or less at random from those offered by Bing, are substantially the same, so hopefully adequate for my modest purposes. I live in the low part of normal, while BH lives in the high part - so there must be more to it than our shared low-salt diet.
