Condemned

The baking tray snapped above will, later this morning, be consigned to our metal waste recycling tub, actually a cheap saucepan which I think was once used for boiling up the mash in my long-gone beer brewing days.

The rust coming through the plating has got too much to ignore. While I was intrigued by the marks left by baking some chipolata sausages, quite a lot time ago now, marks which have survived a lot of washings.

The tray dates from the time of our marriage, so more than fifty years old now. Will it be replaced from John Lewis or Lakeland? We used to have a Lakeland in Epsom, which would have made it a favourite. And while we now have a ProCook, the place of the stock pot, their baking goods seem to be badly infested with non-stick coatings which I do not approve of, mainly because they tend to flake off with use. Maybe we will have to make another expedition to Kingston. Or maybe look into one of the various sub-continental hardware stores?
