Trolley 698

A small trolley from Sainsbury's at Kiln Lane, captured on the way home from Trolley 697 and stored in our garage overnight, rather than risking it being pushed into the stream by some passing youth. Once again, a small trolley looks surprisingly large when parked in the front of our garage. Returned to Sainsbury's a day or so later.

I left the Sainsbury's car park by the Fairview Road exit, taking in two different sorts of dog roses on the way.

The other one. The leaves seem more different on the day than they do here. In the first, the leaves were smaller, darker in colour and the stems were very thorny. And given that there are hundreds of different sorts of blackberry, why should there not be lots of different sorts of dog rose?

Noticed for the striking green bug. Confidently identified by Google Images on the strength of the zoom below as the thick-legged flower beetle (Oedemera nobilis).

With this one being the male of the species, conspicuous for its fat thighs. Common enough, it seems, in this part of England.

While at the corner of Kiln Lane and East Street, the long abandoned pair of houses are finally coming down in favour of a collection of flats. One of the chaps clearing the site explained to me that 'collection' was a much better word than 'block', it not getting the heritage people in quite as much of a flap. Much bigger plot of land than you might think from East Street.

The site has sported boards for various people over the years, including at one point the Reichmann who went bankrupt over Canary Wharf. In his case, a plain white board with large dark blue letters. At least that is my flesh n'blood memory. The bits n'bytes memory, that is to say the archive, throws up nothing.
