I had marked down a large Waitrose trolley by the cash point outside the Tesco's at Epsom Station yesterday afternoon, but it had gone by the time I got there this morning. I had to make do with this middle sized trolley from the M&S food hall instead, captured in the Kokoro passage.
The No.38 already noticed at reference 2 was a cause for celebration, so I passed along to Waitrose for that purpose. Some large oranges, one of which turned out to be of a rather curious shape when I got it home. Two tins of essential apricots halves, two tins of essential peach halves. All going to feed the ongoing craving for things wet and sweet, first noticed at reference 3.
Oranges went through a bad patch at one point last year, with oranges from Sainsbury's being very unreliable. But they have been much better for the last couple of months, very good even, even though what they are pleased to call large oranges are clearly not all from the same farm, not even the same cultivar, with an interesting variety of shapes, textures, tastes and so forth - so it will be interesting to see how Waitrose manage.
PS 1: I had thought to get Del Monte, being a brand that I had heard of, but Waitrose were only offering their peach slices, which I do not like as much as peach halves. Furthermore, Del Monte is in trouble with the Guardian for its various failings in dealing with the sometimes violent pineapple bandits who apparently infest pineapple plantations in rural Kenya.
PS 2: I learn this afternoon that Nicholas McCarthy, the one handed pianist of reference 4 has made it to the Elizabeth Hall, being slated to appear there in a couple of months time. I don't think we will be turning out for him a second time around, but we do wish him the very best of luck.
