More progress

I learn from the Dignity in Dying website that after two days of debate, the Leadbeater Assisted Dying Bill has got its second reading in the House of Lords today. Which is certainly progress, but there look from reference 5 to be a few more hoops to get through yet.

I have not seen anything there or anywhere else about a vote being taken at the end of the second reading, although there must be some mechanism for closing this stage down and moving onto the next.

From reference 1 we have: '... Peers passed an amendment tabled by Baroness Berger and backed by Lord Falconer to establish a select committee to hear evidence over a three-week period on how the law will be implemented...'. Maybe this is the mechanism and this select committee is the same as the 'Committee stage (Lords)' of reference 5.

It looks like the Leadbeater team have got a busy few weeks ahead of them.
