Wellingtonia 103

Captured in the margins of the church school at reference 2 in the margins of getting slightly lost in the outskirts of Ryde; the first capture since March. As it happens, another rather sickly tree.

One theory was the hot summers we have been having of late, probably even hotter on the island than at Epsom. Another was that the sandy soil likely hereabouts was prone to dry out. Another was that this was a Wellingtonia, not its cousin the coastal redwood, and so not well suited to the salt air. But all that said, it seems likely that the tree was once healthy enough, having reached a respectable height for this country.

From the school web site, regarding those with special educational needs we have: 'We believe that every child is unique and should be given the opportunity to grow and shine in all they do. We believe that every child has the right to receive an education which enables them to fulfil their potential in a supportive and caring Christian environment'. Hmmm. Not with my tax money, thank you very much.

PS: for some more Christian thoughts, from the time of the plague, see reference 4.
