Fake 164

Spotted in the vicinity of the railway station at Shanklin. As I recall, one of a pair decorating the front of the house in question.

Flowers which have been appearing in large numbers in central London over the past few years, decorating public houses, restaurants and shops - where they are a lot less bother than window boxes and hanging baskets. Perhaps a new breed of cheap plastic flowers has come onto the market which do not fade in the summer sun.

Will some kind of colour coding evolve? Say with red anthuriums being used to signal public houses which are smoker friendly. Or dog friendly - this last being something of an issue here on the Isle of Wight, where there seem to be a lot of dogs on the streets and beaches.

The people at reference 2 will do the business, and £50 would probably get you a display of red anthuriums on a level with the roses snapped above. A global online retailer based in the Netherlands: rather appropriate given that the Netherlands rather dominates the market for real flowers too.
