For once in the while, we were struck for quite some time - maybe as much as half an hour - in a traffic jam between the A3/M25 interchange and the Wisley turning - and we never did get to find out what the cause of the trouble was. Perhaps some local traffic incident, rather than the big one at Heathrow, earlier that same morning, causing massive jams and tailbacks there.
As a result we were able to spend some time admiring some of the Wellingtonia, with their distinctive domed tops rising above the lesser trees, at the bottom of Battleston Hill in the Wisley show garden. I dare say they had previously been caught up in the scoring of at least some of the many Wellingtonia there, but given the unusual circumstances it seemed fair to score these ones again.
So far, no letter in heavy black type from the Justice Department telling me of the crime of using a hand-held telephone while in charge of a motor vehicle, albeit one which was not actually moving at the time. So no-one had shopped me.
I suppose you would have had to have had sharp eyes, perhaps binoculars at the ready and certainly quick reactions. And to be a bit busy.
No mention of the Wellingtonia at reference 2, although a dawn redwood aka metasequoia aka Metasequoia glyptostroboides does make the cut.
Quite common, but non-scoring as far as I am concerned. The ones at Hampton Court Palace, for example, are noticed if not properly snapped, at reference 3.
