When I left for town on Wednesday morning, there was already a good sized Thames Water hole outside the Tesco's in Station Approach. A one van hole.
By the time that I got back in the afternoon it had expanded to a three van hole, with attendant water men and equipment, some of it looking electrical.
Not thinking much of it, I did not think to go by on Thursday, but by Friday afternoon there was a great deal of (clean) water coming out of the hole, but no vans and no water men.
An older lady pushing her M&S trolley - with very little shopping in it - across the water at the crossing muttered something about it having been like that all day. Presumably since her outbound journey from the station to town.
A view towards Waterloo Road.
Downhill under the railway bridges. The people waiting at the bus stops there, and others, huddled against the wall to avoid splash attack from passing vehicles which had not pulled out far enough.
The water finally petered out in the drain just before you get to the hairdresser in Waterloo Road, the one used, as it happens, by BH. Just before the green hoarding, just about visible in the middle of the snap above.
All makes our leak, reported earlier in the year, at reference 1 for example, look trivial indeed. We did get any surface water at all; maybe a damp patch in the verge outside our front wall.
One is tempted to pay an unscheduled visit to Station Approach this morning to see how they are getting on.
