It is quite mild this morning and, for once, we have a bedroom window slightly open. A few minutes ago, a great tit hopped past the open window and sat on the ledge for a few seconds, before deciding that it was not a good idea and darting away again.

Maybe it was looking for somewhere to start a nest.

Clearly time to go and see if there is any action in the Post Office shed behind Sainsbury's, for which see reference 1.

PS: later on this morning, we were moved to take an interest in something called Ogham, an ancient form of writing used mainly but by no means exclusively in Ireland in the middle of the first millennium. In the first instance, designed to be incised across a vertical edge - aka the stem line - of a dressed standing stone. Wikipedia has a long article, a bit dense, at reference 1. While reference 2, put together by a visiting Brazilian, may be more accessible. Plus plenty of stuff out there from the rune & druid crew.
